EPL Round 8 Predictions

We are getting exponentially worse at predictions as we go along and last week neither of us were aided by the blowout scores and ridiculous performances by Liverpool, Tottenham and Wigan. Still, our readers seem to have some clue what they are doing, so continue to send in your predicts and make us look bad. At this point, you really can't do any worse than we are.
Biggy:
Seemingly my picking skill gets progressively more ineffective and biased every week. These biases which really aren't biases but my expectations for teams not to perform quite at the level that everyone else expects them to is not paying off. True, I might be a bit of an upset junkie but time will tell. Unfortunately time will probably tell me that I suck. We will see. As always the EPL provides enough soccer excitement that it makes me think that weekends should just be declared EPL days.
Bolton 0:2 Tottenham Tottenham has shown one thing this season. They are good. If they plan on contending for a spot in the top four, getting max points against cellar dwellers is a necessity. Last time I checked, Tottenham does plan on contending for the top four. So they will get max points. Defoe and Crouch snag goals for Spurs.
Burnley 1:0 Birmingham The battle of the newly promoted B's who look like they are both interested in playing in the EPL next year. Burnley's home form has been impressive, and they officially become the early season surprise after they bag another victory and a nice spot in the middle of the table. Look out world, ESPN might know something about Burnely that we don't.
Hull City 1:0 Wigan Hull needs points, especially at home. A late Ghilas goal will get them these points. Wigan seems to struggle quite a bit on the road, especially offensively and these woes will continue.
Wolves 1:1 Porstmouth Wolves will go up early and concede late. Portsmouth fans can rejoice as they will not be shut out from points all year. Thank goodness. Too bad there isn't a skunk rule in the EPL like in ping pong, then we would be done with Portsmouth for the year. Bummer.
Man United 2:1 Sunderland Here's how United seems to play this year. Go down early, score near half, score late, get three points. The real question becomes who will have the collective heart attack first from this stress, United's coaches or their fanbase? My money is on the coaching staff. This stress just cannot be good for old people like Sir Alex Fergie. Bent's goal will be negated by Giggs and Berbatov.
Arsenal 4:0 Blackburn Arsenal will pound an ineffective Blackburn team at home. Hard. RVP, Cesc, Arshavin, and Gallas find the back of the ol onion bag. Blackburn finds itself the back of the table again. Look for Theo Walcott off the bench for Arsenal and make an impact. And Wenger to make funny facial expressions that will make me laugh.
Everton 2:0 Stoke City Everton slowly returns to form, fortunately for them, Powered by Howard trancends national boundaries and oceans. Timmy puts the clamp on the Stoke attack and Timmy Cahill does the rest. Everton continues to creep up the table, however slowly it may be.
West Ham 1:1 Fulham Both of these teams are not performing up to expectation. Neither looks that great, although West Ham has seemed to be quite unlucky. When you get unlucky for seven games, maybe it isn't luck anymore. Goals from Cole and Johnson leave everyone griping about what could have been for their side as three points could have been had by either team.
Chelsea 2:0 Liverpool The test of quality for both sides leaves Liverpool's lack of midfield strength exposed as a Chelsea team that forgot to show up last weekend remembers that they have a game this weekend. Anelka gets two to make this showdown in Londontown a walk in the park for the Blues. The Reds cannot find a goal, and Torres doesn't get enough service up top to make a difference. A bad week for the Reds gets worse as they slide out of the top four for good.
Aston Villa 2:2 Man City The game I am most excited about all weekend pits the two sides that are challenging for spots in the top four against each other. What starts as a steely defensive battle quickly turns to a shootout with four goals in the second half. Villa's fans are overjoyed as Milner gets one in the dying moments just to watch Bellamy break their hearts with a goal on the brink of stoppage time. The midfield battle here will be one to watch for sure as it will dictate the game.
Chamo:
I currently have the dillema of being ecstatic that I am better at picking results than Biggy and depressed because that only means I am better than sub-par. My boys in blue lost last week, dismally I might add and I'm looking for a huge reaction....which didn't occur yesterday so it must be all saved up for this weekend....right?
Bolton 1:3 Tottenham I'm going to start using logic in my picks. Logic seems to work out better than grudges/admiration. The logic here is that Tottenham has an attack like none other in the league. That being said, their defense could use some work, and they are away. Defoe twice, with one added from Lennon seal it.Â
Burnley 2:1 Birmingham I have consistently underestimated Burnley and their sheer dominance at home. No longer. I still struggle at naming more than five of the Burnley squad, nevertheless, Burnley at home is something extra special.
Hull City 2:1 Wigan I don't care that they beat Chelsea last weekend and looked amazing doing it. This result has nothing to do with any feelings I have pent up toward Athletic, but Hull need the result badly plus they have the home field for this one. I'll even venture to say that Jozy scores the winner.
Wolves 2:1 Porstmouth Portsmouth have bigger issues than results now, but that doesn't change the huge issues they are having on the field. Ebanks-Blake is healthy and scores the long awaited Premiership goal that all Wolves fans have been waiting for to get them the three points here.Â
Man United 3:1 Sunderland Rooney is too much to handle for Sunderland at Old Trafford, but Jones scores early to give the Devils a scare.
Arsenal 2:0 Blackburn They create loads of attacking opportunities, but ever since the first few weeks Arsenal has struggled to consistently find the net throughout an entire 90 minutes. That said, they still win this one, and Rovers need to dig deep to find the results that will see them playing Premiership football next term.
Everton 1:0 Stoke City Everton simply cannot break this annoyingly drawn out phase of underperforming in league matches. They are doing just fine in Europa league, but week in and week out they seem to just eek out victories. Sure, a W is a W, but this week will be another that leaves the fans asking "Where is that form from last season?"
West Ham 2:0 Fulham No manager needs a victory more than Zola does in London. A good London derby against a lackluster Fulham squad gives the little Italian the right variables to finally pull that result they really have deserved over the past few weeks. Zola will sigh as Cole and Noble grab an essential three points.
Chelsea 3:1 Liverpool Here is the response. The response many expected in Cyprus on Wednesday, the response that Ancelotti expects from his boys. I believe Hilario will get the nod, though I would like to see Turnbull, Liverpool isn't the prime opponent to throw they young man in against. Drogba terrorizes the Reds, like he always seems to do, and grabs himself a nasty brace as Chelsea cruise.Â
Aston Villa 2:0 Man City I'm breaking my logic spell here, though many could argue I broke it last match with my Chelsea result. I want City to lose. I want this because they need some humility and proof that it doesn't come easy. Robinho is injured, and still they pull out results. I am under the complete belief that they have no quality back line, but they just manage to score more than the other team. Not this time, Friedel saves the day.

Hmmmm I've gone for a lot of draws, and there's been like 4 so far. Must be due for some more, surely?
Wolves 2 Portsmouth 0 - Even though they got badly beaten against Sunderland, Wolves looked good in stages. Easy win.
Burnley 0 Birmingham 1 - It finally happens. Burnley lose at home.
Hull City 1 Wigan 3 - Hull are awful, truly awful.
Man United 2 Sunderland 1 - I'm a little nervous about this game... I hope Giggs plays. I'm going for a United win, but we really can't be complacent, Bruce likes to put up a good fight at OT.
Arsenal 4 Blackburn 0 - Can't see Blackburn getting a look in here, they'll be totally outclassed.
Everton 2 Stoke 0 - Louis Saha, back in business... it's good to see.
West Ham 1 Fulham 1 - West Ham go into this game with no confidence, but I can't see Fulham scoring 2 away from home! Both teams happy with the point.
Chelsea 1 Liverpool 2 - No one else can see a Liverpool win here? No Cech = the slight edge Liverpool need to grab 3 points at The Bridge.
Aston Villa 1 Man City 3 - Adebayor back among the goals. City are a little too much for a pretty decent Villa side.
